Indore Becomes First City in India with QR-Based House Address System

The Indore Municipal Corporation has taken a revolutionary step by launching India’s first Digital House Address Project using QR code-based address plates. Started in Sudama Nagar (Ward 82), this initiative aims to link every home with a digital ID, improving civic services, emergency response, and deliveries.

Each plate will carry a unique QR code connected with GPS and municipal records. This project is being tested in a pilot format, and based on feedback, the model may be replicated nationwide, contributing towards smart governance.

Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2027 Announced

India has officially announced the third edition of the Bharat Mobility Global Expo (BMGE) to be held from 4th to 9th February 2027 in the Delhi-NCR region. This international event will focus on sustainable mobility, clean energy transport, and inclusive logistics systems.

Organized with help from the Ministry of Commerce & Industry and Ministry of Heavy Industries, this expo will host exhibitions, B2B meetings, panel discussions, and innovation showcases in segments like multi-modal mobility, green fuels, and agriculture logistics. It’s a significant step towards India’s green mobility mission.

Bhopal, Khajuraho, and Udaipur Airports Top AAI Survey

In the AAI Customer Satisfaction Survey (Jan–June 2025), Bhopal, Khajuraho, and Udaipur airports scored a perfect 5/5 rating for best passenger experience among 60 airports evaluated. Parameters included cleanliness, facilities, staff behavior, and ease of services.

At the other end, Rupsi Airport (Assam) scored the lowest with 2.65, highlighting the regional disparity in infrastructure and service quality.

India Opens First Equine Disease-Free Compartment

India has established its first internationally recognized Equine Disease-Free Compartment (EDFC) at the RVC Centre & College, Meerut, certified by the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH). This facility now allows Indian sport horses to participate in global events like Olympics and Asian Games under strict biosecurity norms.

This milestone opens new doors for India’s equestrian athletes and also aligns with global standards. It also boosts India’s credibility in veterinary disease management and could lead to similar certifications in poultry and dairy.

India’s First National Cooperative University Launched

Union Minister Amit Shah laid the foundation stone for Tribhuvan Sahkari University (TSU), India’s first national cooperative university in Anand, Gujarat. TSU will offer interdisciplinary programs in cooperative law, rural development, finance, and management.

The university plans to train 20 lakh cooperative workers over the next 5 years and connect with over 200 cooperative institutions, aiming to transform India’s cooperative ecosystem and empower grassroots leadership under the NEP 2020 framework.

RECLAIM Framework Launched for Inclusive Mine Closure

The Ministry of Coal unveiled RECLAIM, a strategic framework to ensure that mine closures are done responsibly and in consultation with local communities. The initiative encourages gender inclusivity, sustainable land reuse, and participation from Panchayati Raj Institutions.

It includes templates, toolkits, and action plans to manage the post-mining transition with a people-first approach. It’s a step forward in making mining socially responsible and environmentally sustainable.

Launch of #100DesiDeepTechs Initiative

India launched the #100DesiDeepTechs campaign to identify and support the country’s top 100 deep-tech startups in areas like semiconductors, space, defence, biotech, EVs, quantum tech, and robotics.

This initiative is jointly led by Startup India, MEITY Startup Hub, IIT Madras, and policy groups. Selected startups will receive policy support, mentorship, and opportunities to engage directly with investors and regulators, strengthening India’s deep-tech innovation ecosystem.

International News

Russia Officially Recognizes Taliban Rule

Russia has become the first country to formally recognize the Taliban government in Afghanistan, three years after the group took control in 2021. Russia also removed the Taliban from its list of banned organizations and accepted diplomatic credentials from the Afghan envoy.

This move may lead to increased trade, aid, and regional diplomacy involving the Taliban regime and might push other countries to review their stance.

Diogo Jota Dies in Car Crash

Diogo Jota, star forward of Liverpool and Portugal, tragically died at the age of 28 in a car crash in Spain. A key figure in Portugal’s 2019 and 2025 UEFA Nations League victories, Jota was admired for his consistency and commitment on the pitch.
